I haven't felt much like blogging lately, sorry for the lack of posts. I found a few pictures I haven't posted so I'll share those.

We made salt dough ornaments for Christmas. What fun we had! Owen had fun kneading the dough and cutting out the shapes. Anderson just had fun getting dirty.

We made advent chains and hung them from homemade snowflakes.

He was so cute in this all new outfit, but wouldn't let me get a decent picture.

Big day for a big boy

Today was a big day for our big boy. He had his kindergarten evaluation at 'big school' with one of the kindergarten teachers and he was so excited for it. She said he did a great job and is ready for school. I picked him up early from preschool and he asked me if he needed his book bag for 'big school'. I told him he didn't need it today. While we are looking for a parking spot, he saw some big kids walking with their backpacks and gave me a talking to. "I have to take my backpack in because you always have to take it when you are going to school and I'm here for school." So, he carried it in with him.

He was quizzed on letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, completing a drawing, writing his name, colors, and following directions. I think I got them all.

Next step is for Aaron and I to have our parent interview...fingers crossed...haha!

It's been quiet

January has been a wonderfully slow month. I have a few things to catchup on, but for the most part, the blog has been quiet because we've had a nice low-key month.

Anderson had an impromptu birthday party for lion last night. So sweet!

Kid talk

We heard some funny stuff over the Christmas break...

Anderson and I were putting together an alphabet puzzle. I handed him a piece and...
Me: Here is the letter 'u'
A: Yep, the letter me
Me: No, the letter 'u'
A: (getting irritated), no, the letter ME

One of Owen's teachers gave him a packet of hot chocolate, some marshmallows (or as Owen still calls them, harshmallows), and a cute little poem. I prepared it for him on Christmas Eve morning. After he finished it, he said 'Hey, I'm not supposed to have chocolate for breakfast.'

A couple of days after Christmas...
O: Did Santa get my shed from the tool store?
Me: I don't know buddy.
O: I think he did. He got it from the orange tool store. The blue one doesn't have any sheds like mine.
For the record...he is correct.

Owen turned on the CD he got from VBS this summer. The song, Jesus is the Rock came on. We clearly have some work to do...Owen was all excited because the song 'Jesus is Rotten' was coming on.

After breakfast the other day...
O: That was a good breakfast hon

Anderson was saying grace the other night at dinner. Owen distracted him as he was beginning to say 'Amen', which then came out 'A', pause 'B', 'C.'

Mini Horse Farm

Papa scheduled a visit for us to a mini-horse farm. Such a fun experience for the kids. This farm has about 80 mini-horses, a donkey and some cats. We got to pet several and learn about them. We enjoyed the time together and seeing the horses.

Camp-In

Owen talked Aaron into a camp-in...too bad it only lasted about 30 minutes before they decided to go to their own beds. Oh well, we'll try again another day. (And just between you and me, I think Aaron was totally fine with sleeping in his bed instead of on the floor!)

Christmas Day

We had a great Christmas Day, even though we all had bad colds. This is the first year that Owen remembered Christmas from the year prior and it really made this year a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time talking about Jesus and why we have Christmas. We enjoyed reading the Christmas story around the tree on Christmas Eve.

The kids once again slept in a bit on Christmas Day...all tuckered out from the festivities on Christmas Eve.

Santa came!

Anderson started right away on his stocking and still had unopened items about 3 hours later. Good thing for him he has a big brother more than willing to help him open gifts!

Owen had 3 things on his list for Santa...a shed, a jigsaw, and a headlight.

Santa brought Anderson a bike helmet.

So excited to find a jigsaw in this tool set.

And, very excited about his headlight.

A 'go tarheels' hat for Anderson...he dove right into playing with the new toys.

After Owen opened his jigsaw, headlight and a few other gifts, Aaron asked him if Santa had brought him everything he asked for. Owen said 'Well, he didn't bring me a shed.' Aaron asked him where Santa would put it and Owen pointed over next to the tv and said, 'right there.' Aaron then asked where he'd use the shed. And the wheels started turning in his head as he thought to look outside! And to think that I had been so worried about his looking out of his window before he came downstairs! He ran to the door and was so excited to find that Santa had delivered! He took his jigsaw right out and is ready to go!

The big elf made this super cool peg board...it's on a stand and on wheels so they can move it all around the shed.

Aaron's big gift...

Anderson was so excited to get tools of his own that Santa dropped off at Grandma Juju's house and she brought over Christmas Day.

Owen has been working away in his shed. He was excited to move his workbench and lawnmower over from Daddy's shed and hang up his tools.

Christmas Eve

We did a Christmas Eve brunch with Aaron's mom and his brother and family. It was a great time!

Anderson would want to play with his gifts after opening them...Owen just wanted to open, open, open. Several times over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Anderson said 'No more gifts.'

After our celebration, Uncle Adam earned his elf-card by helping us get Santa's big gift for the kids in place while they stayed with Grandma and took a nap.

We got together for the traditional Christmas Eve big family gathering at Aaron's Grandma's house. Everyone made it this year, except 1...which means there were 40 people there! The 10 cousin's in Aaron's generation are close in age, and now our children are as well, which makes it a lot of fun when we're all together.

Christmas Program

We had a great time at Owen's School Christmas Program. It was so cute to see 230+ kids on stage together for the finale!
Owen was so excited about his program...I don't think I've ever seen him so hyper! He'd been singing his songs at home for me since the school day after Thanksgiving. He sang Joy to the World and a Santa song. He must have used all of his energy up because by the finale, he was pretty mellow.

Big Crazy Day

Our Christmas celebrations kicked off with a big crazy day on the 17th. My sister and her family spend the day at our house. We did brunch and Christmas with my mom in the morning, left early afternoon to go to a ballgame (Aaron) and a birthday party (the kids and me), and then had dinner and Christmas with my dad.

We had such a great day and the kids (ages 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1) loved having so much time together. And it was fun to celebrate sweet baby Phereby's first birthday!

We have entered the world of Legos...wow...who knew they could provide so many hours of peace and quiet!

Thank you, Grandma, Papa and Grandma, and Aunt Abby and Uncle Todd for our wonderful gifts! We love them, and we loved having a special day with you!

Lots of updating to do. I was hoping to get it all done today (while I am at work with nothing to do but babysit movers), but it doesn't look like all my photos uploaded from home...bummer!

Anywhoo, we've had some fun in December. This was such a cute picture, until Jordan moved when I went to get the camera. The kids were standing looking at the fire and the dogs were sitting behind them watching them.

Not sure what the fascination is with cutting, but they both love to cut.

A few things I want to remember Anderson saying...
More than once, when in a hurry, he's shortened mommy and daddy to 'Mah-ddy.'

Owen was snuggled up with me and I told him he is getting so big. Anderson said 'Un-uh, Owen not big. He can't touch the ceiling.'

He was playing with his dinosaurs and said 'This one is the mommy and this one is the daddy. Hi sweetheart (long drawn out and southern on the sweetheart).'

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love to hear my kids pray...it is such a sweet and innocent time with them and God. And, it can be quite entertaining.

Saying the blessing at our house has in the past month or so has turned into individual blessings. Once we get through the fighting of who gets to go first, Owen starts with 'Dear Jesus, Thank you for mommy's food and daddy's food and Anderson's food and my food.' Anderson then has a turn...'Dear Jesus, thank you for mommy's food and daddy's food and Owen's food and my food.' Which is then often followed by Aaron saying a family blessing.

We often have a similar repeat at bedtime with 'Please help mommy to sleep good and please help daddy to sleep good.' The list continues to include inanimate objects sleeping well such as the house and beds and stuffed animals. Or, it is the thank you list. Anderson's recently was 'Thank you for my night light and that it goes on and off. And thank you for my big light that it goes on and off.'

Anderson is Mr. Independent in almost all things and definitely with song time, wanting to sing the songs himself. I love to hear them sing!

Santa

We took the kids to see Santa and to a light show Monday night...70 degrees and no crowd...yes please! Owen's eyes were literally twinkling he was so excited to go see Santa and we only had to wait for one other family. Anderson was a little scared to sit with Santa, but he was a champ and sat, and cheesed. Yes, Santa looks pretty fake, but was good enough to fool a 4 year old and a 2 year old.

Santa gave Anderson a blue lollipop...and I mean really blue. His teeth, lips and tongue were blue. And after he finished and began sucking his thumb, that too was blue, which he found quite disturbing.

While we were riding the train seeing the lights, Owen said, 'I only told Santa I want him to bring me a shed. I forgot to tell him about the jigsaw and the head light. I guess I'll get them next year.'

We went to the local Christmas parade over the weekend and had fun on the train tracks while we were waiting for it to start. The scary thing is that a train came speeding through during the parade! We had fun seeing some of our friends in the parade and hanging out with Madelyn while waiting and watching.

God Is Good

Today is TTTS Awareness Day. It is stunning how many obstetricians are uninformed about this condition. Number 1 thing to find out if you are pregnant with twins, is the chorionicity ie shared or separate placenta. If shared (monochorionic), go to the TTTS Foundation and follow their checklist.

Some of my memories, I can see them just as if they were happening now. Sorry this is so jumbled...it's much like my mind is.

We squeezed our 8 week ultrasound into the doctor's schedule on December 22 so we'd be able to give the grandparents an ultrasound picture for Christmas. The doctor saying 'it's only one', which is what we fully expected. The uncertainty and confusion when the doctor left the room and brought another doctor in. Seeing 2 heartbeats on the screen. The excitement and fear of finding out we were expecting the twins I'd always prayed for. The concern when we were told they couldn't find the membrane, but the excitement of knowing they were identical (another answered prayer) because of the membrane issue. The disbelief from the first few people I told...especially my sister. Coming home and reading the very scary information on the internet about momo twins. Aaron's fears that they'd both be girls. The fun of planning for twins and picking out their names. I think the girl names were decided on within a week of finding out we were having twins. For the record, the names were Kathryn Elizabeth and Madelyn Elaine. Seeing the hysterical reaction of Aaron's mom on Christmas Eve.

Going to the specialist at 10 weeks (the first of many visits) and still not being able to find the membrane, but hearing their heartbeats for the first time. Going again at 12 weeks on January 22 and getting the wonderful news that the membrane was small and wispy, but there and then the following 4 weeks that were the only breath we'd get throughout the journey. The excitement of the 16 week appointment on February 22 to find out gender and the smile (and relief) on Aaron's face when we found out they were boys, and the devastating diagnosis when the doctor came in that our boys had TTTS.

Coming home and contacting the TTTS Foundation and having an entirely new scary topic to research. Having weekly and then twice-weekly ultrasounds. Having a good appointment, followed by a bad and the continued roller coaster ride. Drinking Boost, all day long. The support of family and friends. The nerves on the days of appointments. Getting our favorite ultrasound tech, who would give us the best pictures and tell us we needed something good from our appointments that were so often filled with bad news. Sending out email updates with fluid numbers and weight estimates. Naming our boys. Picking Evan's name because it means "God is Good." Reading message boards and crying when babies went to heaven.

The ride to the hospital and feeling Evan kick for the very last time. Laying in the hospital bed and the nurse trying to get the monitors to pick up both heartbeats. The ultrasound that showed just one heartbeat. And, then my memories get fuzzy. I know snippets, but much of that has been filled in by others who were there.

I do know for certain that Evan is alive and well and waiting for us. And, I know that, as Evan's name says, God is Good.

Anderson had his half-birthday this past Saturday. Hard to believe he's already 2 and a half. Such a big boy!

A few fun things he's been saying lately...first is courtesy of his daddy...'Put a sock in it.' It's quite funny to hear him, he really has great comedic timing, and a great giggle to follow his funnies.
When we ask him "why are you xxx?", he answers, "that's why."
He loves to play cars, tag and police man, and is almost always the one getting locked up. He can peddle his tricycle and loves to be outside.
He loves meat and cheese. I joke that he is on Atkins. There are so many nights for dinner that he'll only eat meat...and all meat is called chicken.
He loves his thumb, blankie and lion. He hates to be woken up. He makes his bed every morning and after most nap times without needing to be reminded.
He is trying so hard to dress himself...still having a little of trouble with shirts.

Christmas Prep

Owen was so excited to decorate for Christmas. We've been counting down the days. Our tradition is to decorate the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were very fortunate to have gorgeous weather to do the outside decorations.

The Grinch is getting a good run in our house. I think we are close to 3 weeks of at least one showing a day, with a few days having more than one. Good thing it's a short show. It is so much fun to share things with our kids that Aaron and I grew up with and love. They both have comments in certain parts of the show that they say every time. Anderson says 'more man' when the strawberry (I think that's what it is) is on its way to Cindy Lou Who. He also cackles away when the Grinch is slithering around the floor. Owen has lots of 'poor max' comments and repeats words back. I think we have a few more weeks of the viewings. I can't wait for Frosty to come on as Owen loves that song...maybe it will give us a break from the Grinch.

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It was busy, but so much fun seeing most of our big extended families.

So thankful for Grandma Mattie! And I have to say, the lack of smiles is pretty funny. They really were having fun.

Doing crafts with cousins while dinner prep is being completed. Such a great idea...it was so calm and quiet.

The kid table...so much easier now than it was a couple of years ago. The big kids are on the left and the littles on the right...ages 6, 5, 4, 3, 3, 2, 1.

A few things I'm thankful for...

Jesus and that he loves me enough to die for me.
My wonderful husband who is also the world's most awesomist dad.
Our 3 boys...raising these 2 adorables and knowing that Evan is waiting for me in heaven.

My parents, sister, in-laws and extended family and that they mostly live close by.
My wonderful friends...old and new.
Our fantastic church family.
Coconut oil...it's amazing stuff.
Good health
A wonderful job...I get a little bored with it at times, but it is a great job, particularly at this time in our lives.
That we get to live in America and for the men and women who have, are and will sacrifice so that we are free. And the loved ones who stay home and miss them and fear for their safety.

Funny Stuff

It seems there is a new member of our household. His name is 'Dad'...not 'Daddy', but Dad. "My Dad and I are going here, this is my Dad's, Dad can you please help me." Even Anderson started with it last night. I don't think I'm ready for this yet...especially out of the 2 year old!

The other night when I was tucking Owen into bed, "Mom, you're a cool girl."

Owen's favorite color is red and has been for quite a while. We've been working with Anderson to learn his colors. If we point to something red and ask him what color it is, his response "Owen's favorite color." Apparently, Anderson's favorite color is green because when we ask about something green, he'll say 'My favorite color.'

A common phrase around our house is 'Get that weak sauce out of here.' Of course, Aaron was the one who introduced this phrase to the children. It is absolutely hilarious to hear Anderson say it, and he has great timing with it, which makes it even funnier.

They wanted to have a 'campout' in the spare room. They emptied the linen closet, made a few beds and then snuggled in so Owen could read to them. I was instructed to stay downstairs. They didn't end up sleeping in there as fighting and tears prevailed. We'll try again in a few months.

Bikes and Parks

We have been taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather and practicing riding on 2 wheels. We've been to a nearby school to ride and play on the playground. We've also headed to the parking lot of a nearby church to ride without worry of cars. Every time we drive by the church now, Anderson says 'That's where we ride our bikes.' Anderson can already peddle the tricycle..an advantage of being the little brother. Owen needs some encouragement to start riding, but once he gets on, he's doing great. He's progressed to being able to look around and still steer properly and he's been able to catch himself when he starts to lose his balance. I love the super concentration face he gets, but don't have a picture.

We've been busy already with Owen's school party, a family party, and a church carnival. At least the costumes are getting lots of wear this year.

Anderson was so excited when he saw his costume. He got big eyes and a big 'ole grin! It's been really funny to see the reaction of other little kids...they love seeing Elmo too! When Anderson is in costume, we have to call him Elmo. If we call him Anderson, he says 'Me Elmo, me not Anderson.'

When you are too little to reach the sink to wash your hands and you are too independent to let Mommy help you, this is how you do it.

What you can't see in the pictures is the free leg flying around while he tries to stay on his perch. I wasn't able to get a picture of him with the soap dispenser in the sink as he tried to get soap or the hilarity that was him trying to get the soap back on the counter. And you can't hear him saying 'stay out mommy'.

As told to me via Maria...

On the way to school, Anderson was complaining the sun was in his eyes. Owen told him that we need the sun to live and that the sun helps the leaves change colors. Then he said 'Mrs. Maria, you should see Evan's tree, it's beautiful.' Then he told her that he has 2 Papas. She asked their names and he said Papa Jack and Papa Tim. She asked who was who and he said Papa Jack is mommy's daddy and Papa Tim is daddy's daddy. He then told her that Papa Tim is in heaven and that he and Evan are looking out for each other.

Oh how I love this kid! And just so you can all see how beautiful Evan's tree is, here's a picture.

Papa Jack suggested and gifted Autumn Blaze Maples for the boys. I love the red color they are in the fall.

And if you see Owen's Papa Jack, tomorrow is his birthday. Happy Birthday, Dad!

2011 Fair

We made our annual trek to the fair. This was Anderson's first experience and despite being too little for most of the rides, he had a blast. My sister and her big kids joined us as well. There was a chance of rain/storms in the forecast, but we once again had beautiful weather. I feel like we need to go back because we missed so much that the fair has to offer. We (or rather the kids) rode, rode, rode. The only animals we saw were at the pig race. Some pictures from the day.

I rode this ride later on with Anderson and he insisted I 'drive' the entire time.

This little dragon roller coaster has been a favorite of Owen's. He rode it at 2, but I think they raised the height requirement because Anderson wasn't able to ride it.

The one ride Anderson was big enough for riding solo. He was so funny during this ride. Even the carny was laughing along with us. He was steering away, but took a lot of convincing to let go of the steering wheel and wave to us. He was also looking around just by moving his eyes and had a smile plastered on his face.

The cutoff for the big-kid rides was 42 inches...exactly Owen's height with his shoes on, so he was able to ride everything he wanted to.

Waiting for the pig race to start. There were 2 pig races, a goat race and a chicken race. Good times!

Owen was finally big enough for this ride. He's asked the past 2 years to ride it.

Notice that Will is missing from a lot of the ride pics. He was not a fan.

A bit of a challenge to make sure we kept up with everyone...for some reason, kids ages 5,4, 3 and 2's like to wander away. I did love to see the kids looking around with a look of awe on their faces...such a fun experience to watch.

Last year Aaron had to ride this coaster with Owen...this year Owen was big enough to ride alone. He and Julia had a blast on the 'big' drop.

Owen's favorite ride...it's like the Himalaya and went pretty fast.

Friday Funnies

Owen: No, because when I'm using your vacuum and I want it to stop, I turn it to o-f-f

The kids were in the tub and Aaron scolded Anderson for making a mess pouring water on the floor, he started crying saying 'I want mommy' (he always cries for the other parent when he is in trouble). Aaron asked him what is mommy going to do and he said 'save me.'

I asked Anderson one morning if he was going to keep his pants dry and he said 'Yeah, dude', with a drawn out 'yeah'.

Our church just started home groups and we are hosting one. We've had one so far and Owen was so excited to have a house full of people. He was looking out of the window for about 2 hours asking constantly, when are the people going to get here. Owen had a blast playing with Jacob (6) and they provided the humor for the group when Owen dove into the chair with 2 balls in his arms and yelled, 'Jacob's trying to get my balls!' The group was silent for a moment before dissolving into laughter.

Owen sang Happy Birthday to Aaron all my himself...so super stinkin' cute!

Anderson does his fair share of singing...it usually goes 'Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so, for the Bible tells me so, Bible' Which is a mixture of Jesus Loves Me and B-I-B-L-E.

Anderson was looking at this picture my mom gave Owen from his birthday outing with her. He sat there saying, 'That Owen, Anderson no go.'

They have both had a cough and a touch of the sniffles. In trying to figure out if it was more than a cold, I asked Owen if he felt okay and if he hurt anywhere. He said 'My legs hurt.' It's a special day at our house today. My very wonderful husband is 35 today! Happy Birthday, Aaron.

When I woke Owen up this morning, I asked him if he remembered what today was and he paused for a moment and then said 'Daddy's Birthday!'

Daddy is getting some rest today after a very busy and productive weekend at an umpire camp. We are so happy he is home and missed him tons this weekend.

Owen was so excited to go fishing with Daddy. They walked over to the pond in our neighborhood and they had a few nibbles. Owen told me he caught some 'ocean weed'. Anderson and I ran an errand and then walked over to take some pictures...thankfully it was a little chilly and Anderson didn't want to stay long...this Mommy doesn't fish.

According to Aaron, Owen did a great job casting...is that how you say it? Remember, this mommy doesn't fish. haha!

In Owen's prayers last night, he thanked Jesus that we have a pond in our neighborhood to go fishing. He told Aaron that we should get a backhoe and dig our own pond in the backyard.

Owen must have read the blog yesterday, because he stepped up to the plate to challenge Anderson's silliness with this getup...

Preschool is going well. I told him the first day that I wanted him to tell me 2 things about his day when he got home. Telling him I wanted this info has opened the floodgates. Most days he gives me a lot of detail about his day, when I previously would get an 'I don't know' when I asked about his day. I typically find out who he played with, what letters/numbers they worked on, what activity he enjoyed the most and about the story they read. Some days more, some less. I love to hear about his day. One day he told me all about playing Duck Duck Goose. He told me how to play, who picked him, who he picked, that they played in the field with a cool black fence and that I really needed to go see the field.

Some funny things he's said lately...he asked Aaron to tell him the story of Robin in the Neighborhood. That took us a few minutes to figure out that he meant Robinhood. He got a CD from VBS at Grandma JuJu's church and the first song is 'I Kick it Old School'. He sings it (and insists) that it is 'I Can't Get Old Sku'. And in school last week during share time, Owen shared that when his is grown up, he is going to be a daddy with a funny pressure washer.

Owen is such a big helper around the house. I sure hope some of it sticks around as he gets older. He'll empty the dishwasher without my asking. For things that go in the top cabinets, he'll stack them on the counter in front of the appropriate cabinet. He will help me cook and clean and set the table. He helps Aaron with the yard and any other work Aaron is doing.

He is very serious about his coloring and drawing. We've had some good bonding time lately cooking and coloring together.

I love this kid! He is so full of life and keeps me laughing. He loves to dance and run and jump do all things active and silly. He puts his little hands on our chin and gives the sweetest kisses. He is a great hide and seek player...he stays so quiet when he hides (unlike big brother who giggles away). He struts around the house and likes to talk in a deep voice, often telling us 'I'm a worker man.' Aaron was leaving to run an errand yesterday and Anderson burst into tears after Aaron walked out of the door because he wanted to go too. We hurried out so he could go with daddy.

And he's already showing teenage tendencies. I've been having to wake them up every morning since it's been darker in the mornings and daddy has been home so bedtime has been a little later. I went in this morning and he rolled over, through a stuffed animal across the room, rolled back over and pulled the cover over his head. I think I'd rather have what I usually get...where he rolls over and pops up with a big ole grin on his face and says 'Hi, Mommy'.

He copies everything we all do. We've been walking down to the babysitter's a lot lately since it's been wonderful weather. If Owen stops to scratch his leg, we have to stop and wait for Anderson to stop and scratch his leg.

Aaron and I finished the summer off with a trip to Atlanta. We lived it up by staying at the Ritz...that's a little out of our league, but was fun and we are now quite spoiled. We sadly don't own a Bentley like the one that pulled up next to us at check-in. We had great conversations, great food, great seats for the Braves vs. Dodgers, and Aaron got some great autographs (so he tells me).

His favorite baseball player of all time, Donnie Baseball Mattingly is now the Dodgers manager.

Not only does Owen love to paint, but he loves to draw and he loves to draw pictures for and of people. His Sunday school activity last week was to make a mobile of the people we can pray for. He talked the whole way home about how he had people to add and asked us to cut some paper so he could draw more people.

This is my Great Auntie Jeanne. She's 88...doesn't she look great! I'm so happy we were able to visit with her while we were in NY. She met Owen back when he was just 4 months old, but hasn't seen him since then.

These are some of my cousin's kids. There were 12 kids 10 and under at the family reunion. I didn't get many pictures, but my cousin Kristie sent me these. Niagara Falls

One of our stops while in WNY was Niagara Falls. I've been to the Canadian side, but never to the American side and it's been about 10 years since I was last there. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much there was to do on the American side. The kids loved the falls, much more than I expected them to. We walked around Goat Island and the Three Sisters Islands and got drenched in a torrential downpour. The Islands were beautiful and I wish we'd had more time to explore. It was neat to see the falls from different heights and angles. The kids also loved riding on the trolley.

Owen kept pointing out the 'blue people' doing the Cave of the Winds and Maid of the Mist activities.

After our visit to the falls, we stopped by American Harley Davidson, which is owned by my mom's cousin. We got an awesome behind the scenes tour and Aaron picked out a few bikes he would have liked to find a way to bring home.

We then headed to my cousin's house for dinner and time with aunts, uncles and cousins on my dad's side. So many little kids and so much fun to see them all together. I'm waiting for family pics from Friday night and Saturday and will post them when I get them. I'm so thankful we were able to make this trip and spend the time with our extended family. We got to see so many relatives and I felt like we didn't have quite enough time with any of them, but that's how it always is when we are up.

Vacation Number 2

We got to take a second vacation this summer and have recently returned home after an adventure to Buffalo, NY. We had a family reunion with my dad's family and had a great time. We visited an animal park, Niagara Falls, American HD and visited with lots of family. We wore the kids and ourselves out with late nights and short to no naps. But our time was limited and we had a lot to see!

This trip was quite the adventure as we rented an RV. We drove 11 hours the first day and stopped north of Pittsburgh for the night. Let me tell you, the RV was the way to go. We tried to be safe and kept the kids in their car seats most of the way, but it was super nice to be able to fix snacks, drinks, lunch and have potty breaks without stopping. The kids loved the RV and were so excited to be riding and sleeping in it.

Before finishing the drive to NY (or, 'The York' as Owen calls it) we visited an animal park. What a fun place and just the right size for the kids. We saw all kinds of animals, from bunnies to bears to hyenas and baby leopards. The kids got to feed and pet all kinds of animals.

It's sort of hard to tell in the picture, but the reindeer rested his head on Anderson's head. Their antlers were fuzzy and we got to hear them 'click' when they walked.

We asked Owen if he wanted to ride a camel or a horse. He said horse and we proceeded to try to talk him into riding a camel. He kept saying he wanted to ride the horse and pointed at the camel and said 'I want to ride that big horse'.

Odds and Ends

Thanks for the comments and emails of encouragement on my last post.

I finished an excellent series this weekend. The Chronicles of Kings series by Lynn Austin. The 5 book series is about Kings Ahaz, Hezekiah and Manasseh from the books of Kings, Chronicles and Isaiah. I highly recommend you read these books.

Judith Pella is one of my favorite authors and I recently read her series Daughters of Fortune. A couple of the characters are carried over from her Russians series, but you don't have to read that series first (although those are good too).

I don't think I've mentioned on here about the book Heaven is for Real. I read this several months ago and definitely recommend it. It's a pretty short read...awesome book.

I haven't done a 'what they are saying' post lately. Not that the munchkins haven't said funny things, I just haven't been the best at compiling and posting them. Owen's preschool teacher came over and gave him a hug at church yesterday and told him he looked handsome. Anderson, our family extrovert, said 'My look handsome too.' Owen talked in the 3rd person for the longest time. Anderson talks with 'my'. 'My do it' is about the most commonly used phrase at our house right now.

Anderson is in this silly stage. He'll be playing in the living room and come running to another room where either Aaron and I are and say, 'Dinosaurs, the dinosaurs are going to get me.' We have to pick him up and give him some snuggles and then he's off to play again.

Both kids are into jumping...jumping on the ground and jumping off of things...Oh my!

For as much as he talks and giggles, Anderson is a great hide and seek player. He'll get in a spot and stay super quiet until he's found. Owen, on the other hand always giggles or peeks out.

Mental Clutter

I sat down to try to write to clear my head of some of the clutter that's moved in over the past few months, but am having a hard time getting the words out. I have written, erased, and re-written many times.

Owen and Evan's birthday this year was a really difficult one for me and I think the funk that has lingered has finally lifted. I miss our baby so much. Owen is talking more about Evan and asking questions and trying to understand. As with the entire situation, it is bittersweet. One of my fears and sources of sadness is that Evan will be forgotten. I know I will never forget him, and I don't want other people to either. He is still very much with me every day. I think of him as often as I think of Owen and Anderson. I wonder what he'd be like and what our family dynamic would be with him in the mix and daydream about what it would be like to see him running around with his brothers. I love that his name is spoken in our home and that he is very much a part of our family. I love to hear other people say his name. I treasure the photos and memories we have of him. I love that Owen knows Evan is in heaven. I love that his death provides a great opening to share the gospel with Owen and Anderson. I love that now, 4 years later, I can help others who are new into the journey. Evan is a gift. Both his life and his death. While I don't always feel it, I know it. God is and will use Evan for His glory.

When the wave of grief hit, I spent some time the day before their birthday going through Evan's things and looking at his pictures and footprints. The outpouring of love from family, friends and strangers was uplifting as I read through each of the notes and cards we received. I was encouraged this morning when I received a note from a friend I haven't spoken with in years who told me she was praying for us. God has carried me these past four years. He has proven himself true. He has strengthened my faith. He has shown his love for me. I am blessed way beyond what I deserve. Evan is not and did not suffer. Owen is healthy when the odds were greatly stacked against him. Anderson was just what our family needed. I have experienced God through the eyes of my children and I am thankful for the life and family we have.

My heart is heavy with the pain that I know many of our friends and family are enduring. From marriage issues to pregnancy complications, to sickness and job/financial issues, there is so much hurt in this broken world. But my God is faithful and big enough to handle it all. I don't know who is reading this and what you may be going through. But I encourage you to turn to God no matter how big or how small. You don't have to struggle alone...I know from experience that it is a lot easier when you let go and let God and I need reminding of this truth daily.

All Fixed Up

A few days after arriving home from the beach, Anderson had a minor outpatient surgery. He was in some pain for a few days, but he has recovered well.

He didn't go into surgery until 12:15...sure looks happy with no food or drink since dinner the night before, doesn't he? We were at the hospital before 9 and he was a champ during the wait.

Owen asked while we were on vacation why didn't we have 'ponky' trees at home. This was in reference to palm trees.

We rode the carousel. We got these pics and then Anderson saw a frog that he had to ride, so he moved. Then because Anderson moved, Owen had to move.

Anderson wasn't so sure about riding once we started moving. I love his poor face here.

Owen is into jumping these days...I mean really into jumping. We thought this jump thing would be a good fit for him.

What's a trip to the beach without mini-golf? It's a good thing the kids were free...hahaha! It was pretty much an epic fail. I think it would have gone better had it not been 2000 degrees...it was hot!
Anderson got a hole in one on the first hole and pretty much lost interest on the 2nd hole. Owen hung in there a few more holes and then decided he was melting. They both enjoyed the arcade though (aah, air conditioning!)

Bed Buddies

My sister's oldest kids often sleep together and I have been excited for the day my kids would...I think it is just too sweet. Well, that day arrived and I was thinking about the adorable pictures I'd get once they were sound asleep. I snuck into Owen's room and took a picture. I came downstairs to ooh and aah at the cuteness. And, this is what I got.

Bummer...looks like there is only 1 kid, right!

So, I waited a little bit and headed back up. Not quite a success, but not a total fail...at least there is clearly an extra set of arms in this picture.

Yes, Anderson almost always sleeps with his blanket over his head.

They slept great that night, and wanted to sleep in Owen's bed again the night after, but after nearly an hour of giggling, Anderson was sent to his bed and they have remained separated. :(

Fireworks

We attempted a 4th of July fireworks show for the first time this year. Anderson seems to have sensitive ears, so we were concerned how he'd react. He was completely fine with the noise. But, they were so tired from spending the afternoon swimming that they were both nearly asleep by the time the fireworks started. We didn't stay very long and Owen fell asleep in the car on the way home...he never sleeps in the car!

We were prepared with ear protection, but didn't need it. They still had fun wearing it.

We got a bad pack of diapers...one of the tabs pulls off of these things every time we use them. They've become naptime diapers because we need less coverage at nap. But, prior to my figuring out that the diapers were a problem, Anderson tried to reapply his diaper after a tab pulled off (and do a little yoga).

Oh my, my! Our little preemie is a big boy!

We had Owen's 4 year well-visit this morning. He is 39.5 pounds (75th percentile) and 41 inches (70th percentile). He grew 3.5 inches in the last year and gained 6 pounds..he also moved up from the 50th percentiles.

Everything else checked out great and his next well-visit will be his kindergarten physical..sniff, sniff.

Weekend of Firsts

Owen had a weekend full of firsts.

On Friday, my mom took him bowling for his birthday. They had a great time and, if I remember correctly, Owen scored a 71! Not bad! Pics below.

On Saturday, he went to his first drop-off party and movie. According to him, Cars 2 is a must see.

On Sunday, he started his first week of VBS. He's having fun, but is pretty worn out. I'm helping with the 5 year olds, but the 4's and 5's are together most of the night. It's really been a lot of fun (and work!) and the kids are adorable. We had 10 5's the first night, 15 the second and 18 last night! We have 2 nights left...I think we may break 20 in the 5's.

Odds and Ends

Owen finished his Cubby book in Awana this year. I could not get him to look at me when the camera was out. He was all smiles my direction once I put the camera away.

I had a wonderful girls weekend at the lake with some college friends. Based on this picture, I'd say that Aaron kept the kids busy.

Anderson has upgraded his crib to a toddler bed. He has done fantastic with the transition.

He can reach the doorknob, but cannot yet, turn and pull all together. He stays in his bed and waits for either Owen or me or Aaron to come open the door and get him up. I must say that I enjoy not always having to go upstairs to get him up.

Birthday Cake

We had a chocolate caterpillar cake for Owen's birthday. He's the only one in the house who would request a chocolate cake. I don't think Anderson even took a bite of it...haha!

When I mentioned to Aaron that I had seen this cake in a magazine and thought it was super cute and something Owen should have for his birthday, Owen piped up 'I don't want a caterpillar cake...it would be crunchy.'

Owen helped me mix up the batter Saturday morning and I decorated while that afternoon. I'm obviously an amateur, but I think it turned out pretty cute.

Owen wanted the caterpillar head. Anderson was really eying the pretzel antennae, so he got a few added to his piece of cake.

Four years ago today, my wonderful, amazing husband became a wonderful amazing daddy. It's hard to believe it's been four years. In so many ways it feels like yesterday and at the same time it feels like it's been forever.

What a four years it has been. Owen is an truly special child. He has a sweet heart and eager to please spirit. I feel like my heart is going to burst when I start thinking about all the things that make him him. God definitely has special plans for his life and I can't wait to see what they are.

Owen is still all about Daddy. He loves his tools and to help with projects. He is convinced Santa is bringing him a shed for Christmas. He loves school and cutting with scissors. He loves to clean (hoping he retains this trait for many years!) and is really good at helping with all household tasks. He loves to swim and is really close to really swimming. He loves Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers...well, maybe it's just bacon on a hamburger that he loves! He loves to spend the night away from home. He loves to be outside. He loves his brothers and is very protective of Anderson. He is starting to understand a little about Evan and asks great questions and loves to look at ultrasound pictures. He's learned how to stretch the truth...uh-oh. He loves to talk on the phone and wants to talk every time I'm on the phone. He wants to know how and why everything works the way they do. His favorite store is the 'tool store' and says 'Daddy and I like the blue one'. He still has a few mispronunciations...one of my favorites is 'doose' instead of 'does'. He loves bananas, blueberries, cheese, and hotdogs.

2 Year Stats

Anderson finally made it to the doctor for his 2 year checkup...he's growing and still little:)

Weight - 26.5 pounds, 30th percentile
Length - 32.5 inches, 10th percentile (has finally moved up from the 5th percentile!)

We had a new doctor and loved him! The kids have been playing 'Dr. Chip' at the house.

Anderson had been schedule to go to the doctor a week earlier, but because of some scheduling with the babysitter, we moved the appointment. When I called to move it, I was disappointed to learn that both of our 2 favorite docs at the practice were out the day we needed to go. Of the 2 that were available, I knew I did not want one of them, so booked the other. I figured that since it was just a checkup and we didn't have any concerns, it would be fine. What a pleasant surprise to have such a great doctor. The only downside is that he's not usually in the office we go to. I'm a little concerned that Owen is going to be disappointed when we go in a few weeks for his checkup.

Dr. Chip came in and immediately made both kids comfortable. He juggled medicine cups, made a catapult with them and a tongue depressor, stacked the cups and knocked them together. Much of what he was doing was a fun way to do the 2 year autism screen to see Anderson's reaction and if he copied etc. He let Owen try out the light thingy (don't know what it's called, but the thing they look in ears/eyes with).

I'm so thankful that Anderson is healthy and growing!

Fighting has entered our household, fortunately it's not too bad (yet), but that is to be expected and a great way for them to learn to handle differences.

This morning though, was a melt this mommy's heart kind of morning. Owen made an early exit from his room, but the following makes it impossible for me to correct him for getting up a little early.

I heard Anderson's door open and heard him say, (very excitedly), "Owen."

We still have the video camera over Anderson's bed to I quickly turned the tv on and watched Owen crawl in bed with Anderson, pull the covers up over them and proceed to rub Anderson's back, while gently telling him to be quiet and lay down. A couple minutes later (I couldn't stop watching this display of love), Anderson rolled over, stretched his arms out and around Owen and said 'love you, Owen.' What a sweet, sweet moment...one that brought tears to my eyes and one that I hope to never forget.

My sister brought her crew over and we had a great time. As the kids get older and more independent, it's so much easier to get together. We got some great pictures...I'm not sure if we've ever gotten a picture with all 5 looking at the camera. I can hardly stand how cute these kids are!

Owen came downstairs from his nap on Mother's Day and told me he had made me something for my 'special day'. He then brought me this...such a sweetie!

No, I don't know what it is...but it's the thought that counts. He's very excited that his birthday is on daddy's special day this year.

Is it Super Anderson or Count Anderson?

He likes to stick his arms out straight and run through the house saying 'Super Anderson.'

Not sure why, but the kids decided to break out the winter jackets and slippers. Well, the slippers are often out and on.

We went to see Dan the Animal Man at Grandma's church. Anderson loved the owl and the 'dinosaur'. He was arguing with me when I was trying to convince him it was an alligator. Owen loved the alligator. This was a baby...about 7 feet long. We also saw a lemur and a fancy porcupine.

Strawberries!

I think our strawberry season is over for 2011, but we enjoyed it and Anderson ate a ton of strawberries. We joined my mom, sister and her kids at a berry farm. Not too many pictures because it was a little chaotic with 5 kids 4 and under!

Anderson was pretty much eating them as fast as I could get them in the bucket.

Last day of preschool

Owen finished up preschool on Anderson's birthday. The festivities for the last day of school included an alphabet parade and a party. Owen was assigned the letter 'P' and Aaron and I worked together on this...

Anderson snuck into the picture of Owen and Mrs. Missy.

It was a great first year of school for Owen. This is the first year the school has run a summer session, so he'll be starting 4 year old preschool in a week.

Blogger was giving me a fit last week, so I didn't get the pictures of our birthday boy up.

His cake wasn't my prettiest cake...it was quite tasty and very moist, which made icing it difficult...and it broke when I was layering it. Oh well, like I said, it was quite tasty.

He had the cutest look on his face while we were singing to him...a 'is this all for me' kind of look. The camera didn't fully capture it...but no worries, it's tucked safely in my head.

He did a great job blowing out his candle.

Our little monkey is 2 today!

What a crazy fun addition Anderson has been to our little family. He has a huge personality and is so much fun. He doesn't know a stranger. He has the best laugh. He wants to do everything big brother is doing. He's got his daddy's mischievousness nature. He already tries to delay bedtime by saying 'one more book,' after every book. He's opinionated. He loves shoes and slippers of all styles and sizes...and if someone is wearing the ones he wants, he'll ask the wearer to take them off. He's starting to dress himself. He's nearly a potty pro. He's a great eater and talker and sleeper. He still loves his thumb. He gives great hugs and kisses. He loves his big brother. He's counting to 7. He answers green to any 'what color is this' inquiry. He loves to sing and dance. He loves animals and gives lots of kisses to our dogs. He has quite the temper. He likes to put his stuffed animals in time out. He helps unload the silverware from the dishwasher...it ends up in one big pile in the drawer, but it's a start. He loves the vacuum, whether it is on or off. He prefers to run, march or tiptoe instead of walking. He's trying so hard to jump. He gets scared when the dogs go on a barking spree, but is usually hopeful that it means a grandparent is there to visit. He's been incredibly healthy...only 1 sick visit so far...what a miracle! He's started using a pillow and covering up with a blanket at night...we've begun the discussion on when to convert his crib to a toddler bed.

I found Preschool Express this week. What a great site for ideas for things to do with the munchkins. I'm not very creative, so it's great to have so many ideas laid out for me. Only problem is...there are a ton of ideas!

Camp Out!

Time for the 2nd Annual Daddy/Son backyard campout. Anderson is excited about joining the fun next year. But don't worry, Anderson and I got to join in the campfire, roasting hotdogs, eating s'mores, playing soccer and t-ball, and playing in the tent.

What a fun afternoon and great memories for all of us.

Oh, please do me a favor and ignore Anderson's undies on over his shorts...he's nearly 2 and pretty opinionated:)

Me: Owen, is Daddy silly or what?
Owen: He's a what!

Owen upon opening an Easter egg, "Look Mommy, more vitamins!"

Owen: Daddy, does this orange juice have pimples? Because we like our orange juice with pimples, don't we?
Aaron: You mean pulp, Buddy?

Owen knocked noggins with me, and said 'It's okay, Mommy. You and me have hard heads.'

Owen: Mommy, for dinner tonight, I want mashed potatoes and 1 green bean.
Please note that neither of my kids eat mashed potatoes and this was said shortly after lunch.

Anderson, walking up to Owen (who was completely minding his own business), pointing said 'Owen, go time out!'

Anderson, after a yawn, 'Tired.'

Anderson has been singing a lot. I tried to sneak up with the video camera, but he caught me and stopped. He tends to get stuck on a song (well part of a song) and sing it over and over. Some of his 'songs' are 'Yes, Jesus, the Bible tells me so' and while rocking his lion, 'Rock a baby in the tree.' He'll sing his ABCs through 'f'.

Heard through the monitor each morning upon Anderson waking up, "Hi lion, hi monkey, hi Eeyore, hi bear, hi doggie." (yes, his bed is full of animals) Followed by 'hi mommy', repeated, then a holler for Mommy and/or daddy.

Anderson has been working really hard on being a big boy. Every time I feel like I can say he's potty trained, he has a bad day. But, he is in a great spot for his age and we've successfully done a few outings in undies.

In January, he was good as long as he was naked from the waist down...he'd head to his little potty and successfully take care of business. If we put pants or undies on, he'd make a mess in minutes. In March, he progressed to wearing pants and telling us he had to go, but if we put undies on he'd again make a mess. He is now wearing undies most of the time and they are so cute on him!
Doesn't he look so big here?!

Swim Lessons

The kids started swim lessons about a month ago. This is the first time for Anderson and the first for Owen without a parent in the water.

In preparation, they did some goggle modeling.

Anderson's favorite part of class...

He'll kick away while totally relaxed and sucking that thumb.
Of course our little monkey likes to do the monkey climb on the wall...he also enjoys climbing out and jumping back in.

Owen, Owen, Owen...our little fish...one problem...he took a BIG nose full of water in his second week. He did not enjoy that experience and seems to have soured a bit on his lessons.

Bunk Beds

No need to purchase expensive beds for your kids...just clean out (or better yet, have them do it) the kitchen cabinets. Bonus, the door can be closed so it's ideal darkness for sleeping.

And, when it's time for a bath, just throw them in a pot.

Easter Pics

These are pics from our Easter weekend. Please scroll down and read the post before this one if you haven't...it's much more important than these pictures.

Owen had 4 hunts...one at school on Thursday, a neighborhood one that ended up being in our front yard...long story, but we benefited greatly from some disorganization on the HOA board, one at church Sunday morning and one with Aaron's family Easter afternoon. Owen is surely a pro by now! Anderson was hilarious, once he discovered there is candy in the eggs, he would open each egg to see what was in it before putting it in his basket.

We tried really hard to get a picture before church...this was the best we got.

The ride to church...he did this all on his own and rode most of the way to church this way.

Then Owen decided to copy.

They were so excited to see the Easter Bunny. Anderson was practically chasing him down trying to say 'hi', but when we were ready to do a picture with him, they both changed their minds about getting too close.

Church hunt...which was followed by a kid's rally inside.

We had a wonderful Easter celebrating our risen Savior.

I accepted Christ as my Savior as a child, but through Evan's death have found a greater perspective on the sacrifice we celebrate specifically on Easter, but also every minute of every day. What a comfort it is to know that God knows my pain in grieving Evan. His son died too. And, not just his Son, His only Son. He willingly sent him to die for me and you to pay the penalty for our sins. I spent a lot of time being angry, sad and confused that one of my sons was 'taken' from me, while God gave his only son to become sin for us. Jesus didn't just die for our sins, he rose again...He conquered the grave! We can have a personal relationship with God, the creator of the universe because Jesus paid the debt for our sins which opens the communication lines for us. Evan is alive in heaven with Jesus and one day I will be too! What comfort that is for my grieving heart!

1 Cor. 15:20-22 (niv) But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

You too can accept Christ as your Savior and have the peace of knowing that you will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus. God's love and mercy for us is amazing...all we have to do is accept Him...He's done the rest for us.

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for our sins and rose again

And by confessing your sins and asking Jesus into your heart.

I'll post some of the many pictures from the weekend in a separate post. We had a great time celebrating our risen Savior ...dressing up, visiting with the Easter Bunny, finding eggs and eating way too much sugar. Owen is a pro at finding eggs after 4 hunts in 4 days. Anderson discovered there is candy in the eggs and would open each one to check the contents before placing it in his basket.

Lessons Learned from Turning off the TV...Our kids do very very little TV. It's pretty much limited to weekend snuggle time in our bed for a short amount of time. I decided toward the end of January that I was watching too much and decided I'd only watch on weekends. My plan was to just do that during February. Well, here it is April and I'm still doing it. I've had some weeks that haven't been as restricted, but overall, I've stuck to it. Give it a try!

Virtually Clutter Free...clean out that inbox! And, use labs in gmail..I love gmail so I'm incorporating the labs. My office also uses gmail, so I am tackling work and personal email inboxes.

Stinky wolfpack and other fun convos

While getting ready the other morning.

Owen (wearing a UNC shirt he picked for the day): Anderson, do you like the wolfpack?
Anderson: nuh-uh
Owen: Good because the wolfpack is stinky!

I'll conveniently omit the part where Owen tried to convince me that Daddy really does like the wolfpack...hehe! For the record, Daddy bleeds Carolina Blue and is super stoked that Harrison Barnes will be back next year!

Owen: I have to tell Daddy that Jesus uses a machine to clean our dirty hearts.

Owen: Daddy, you have to eat dinner before you go to your game.
Aaron: No, buddy, I'll eat after.
Owen: Mommy, can you please go pack Daddy a snack for his game.
Me: Owen, Daddy is a big boy and can pack his own snack if he needs it.

You know that Owen is majorly a Daddy's boy. So I've started working on Anderson...but it is apparently not working.
Me: Anderson, who's boy are you?
Anderson: Daddy's
I've given up and gone to this one...
Me: Anderson, who's baby are you?
Anderson: Mommy's
I'm good with this...especially since jealousy has kicked in and Owen has decided he's mommy's baby too.

As I was leaving the babysitter's Wednesday morning, I heard Anderson yell through the door 'love you'.

Play Ball

I try to take the kids to at least one basketball and one baseball game a year. Well, this baseball season is nearing the end (phew and YAY!) and we hadn't been to a game yet. Aaron had a nearby game at a somewhat reasonable hour and the temperature was great, although the forecast had a chance for rain/storms. I packed a picnic dinner and took our chances with the rain. The kids had a great time and Aaron called a good game (of course!). Everytime the fans would cheer, Owen would yell...'Good job, Daddy!'

It was just starting to rain as we were pulling out of the parking lot to head home...thank goodness we didn't get drenched...and we were only a little bit late on bedtime.

Planting the garden

My mom came over to help us plant the garden. She enjoys gardening, much more than I do. Owen was so excited to work in the garden. He talked about it all day Friday and all morning on Saturday.

My mom brought with her some worms from her compost and a book about worms for Owen. After they placed the worms in holes around the garden (and Owen let some crawl all over him), they read all about worms.

Thanks, Mom for the help...there is weeding to be done anytime you want to stop by:)

We have two types of tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, sweet banana peppers, sugar snaps, green beans, yellow squash, zucchini, and cucumbers. In a few weeks, I'll plant the okra and broccoli. See what I meant when I said yesterday that we were unsuccessful in scaling back.

2011 Garden

We had plans to scale back...yes, plans. But, we didn't. We started with tilling. Owen was so dirty. He was rolling around in the freshly tilled soil. He was running and jumping. He had a blast...I cringed at the thought of getting him and his clothes clean.

Anderson got in the action a bit. He enjoyed the cleanup much more. Give them dirt and a water hose and it's a party!

I don't do taxes...I review mine and my company's for major typos/errors, but I don't prepare them. I may start doing ours again next year...we've had some wonky stuff the past 5 years or so. I will admit once again to being a nerd and being really excited about the CPE conference I got approval to register for...Employee Benefit Plans. I am the plan administrator for my company's 401k plan...I need all the education I can get..okay, off to file our form 5500.

Anywhoo...I thought it'd be fun to post 2 old tax day pictures even though today isn't technically tax day.

Oh, and note to Mr. President...it's a spending issue, not a revenue issue!
